Quit Smoking - Tobacco Cessation Program

What is the tobacco cessation program?

AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania Community HealthChoices’ created this program to help Participants quit smoking or using other tobacco products.

Am I eligible to be a part of this program?

All AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania Community HealthChoices Participants are eligible for 70 tobacco cessation counseling sessions per calendar year. Each session is a 15-minute face-to-face counseling session, either individually or in a group.

You do not need a referral or permission from your primary care practitioner (PCP) to go to a counseling session. The provider holding the sessions must participate in the Medical Assistance Program and be approved by the Department of Health. Call Participant Services at 1-855-235-5115 (TTY 1-855-235-5112)to find the approved providers in your area.

If you are eligible for prescription services, you may get tobacco cessation drug products, such as bupropion and the generic nicotine patch, with a written prescription from your health care provider.

Participants under 18 years of age can have a prescription for smoking cessation medicines without the permission of a parent or guardian.
